IMF Waives Bitcoin Condition for El Salvador, Approves $139 Million in Funding
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a $139 million disbursement to El Salvador after granting a waiver for the government's breach of a condition limiting further Bitcoin accumulation.
The IMF's board completed its second and third reviews under the nation's $1.4 billion Extended Fund Facility, allowing the immediate release of the funds.
This decision follows the IMF's waiver of the condition, which was put in place to prevent the government from accumulating more Bitcoin.
