Institutional Bitcoin Demand Surges as Fidelity Crypto Sees Increased Activity
Institutional demand for US spot Bitcoin ETFs surged on September 3, 2026, with BlackRock's IBIT capturing $454 million in net inflows, accounting for 62% of the total $731 million recorded that day. This follows a difficult period where IBIT saw $3.3 billion in outflows during June 2026. Fidelity's FBTC added $74 million during the same session, while ARK 21Shares' ARKB added $138 million.
The Bitcoin price reached $85,430 at the time of reporting. The total US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows for Monday reached $998.9 million, surpassing the previous 2026 high of $844 million from January 14. However, despite this surge, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have posted about $464 million in net outflows so far in 2026.
Fidelity Crypto allows users to buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin through the Fidelity Investments app or website. To use it, one must be a U.S. resident at least 18 years of age and live in a state that permits Fidelity Digital Assets to serve retail customers. They must also possess an eligible Fidelity brokerage account to fund the trades.
The setup process takes only several minutes, as users already know how to navigate a standard brokerage interface. To execute a purchase, one opens a trade ticket, selects Bitcoin, enters the amount, and submits the order. They should review the reference price and estimated BTC amount before finalizing.
