Institutional Players Continue to Buy as Cryptocurrency Market Slows
Despite slowing momentum in recent days, major players in the cryptocurrency market have continued to make purchases. One of the most notable acquisitions is that of Strategy, the world's largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, which purchased an additional 1,665 BTC this week. This brings their total holdings to 847,666 BTC.
Strategy founder Michael Saylor stated that the company's dollar-denominated assets could cover current preferred stock dividends and interest payments for approximately 3.8 years.
In related news, Bitmine, the world's largest holder of Ethereum, announced last week that it purchased an additional 17,362 ETH, bringing its total holdings to 6,001,302 ETH. This represents 4.9% of the total circulating ETH supply.
According to Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee, this is a 'tremendous achievement,' as the company has accumulated nearly 5% of the total ETH supply in less than 15 months. Lee also noted that institutions are still underinvested in cryptocurrencies and anticipate an increase in positions by the end of 2026.
Lastly, DeFi Development Corp., a Nasdaq-listed company, announced it had purchased an additional 47,706 Solana, bringing its total SOL holdings to 2.54 million.
