Jennings Criticizes Trump's Cryptocurrency Ventures as 'Uncomfortable'
Scott Jennings, a former George W. Bush strategist and CNN commentator, expressed discomfort with the Trump family's cryptocurrency ventures, specifically the use of the President's name and influence to promote a digital currency called $TRUMP.
The $TRUMP coin, which launched in January last year, has lost significant value, trading at $2 currently, down from an initial value of around $44. An investor who purchased $10,000 worth of the coin at launch would now be holding an asset worth less than $700.
Jennings was put on the spot during a conversation on CNN NewsNight, where he admitted that using the President's name and influence for such ventures made him 'uncomfortable' due to their potential for financial loss and the President's use of his office for personal gain.
Organizers of the $TRUMP coin are hosting an exclusive dinner for the top 185 investors at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia on November 22. The top 29 investors will receive VIP treatment, including a reception with their 'favorite president,' and the top four will receive an 18-karat gold Trump watch.
