KakaoPay Leverages Stablecoins and AI for Future-Proof Finance
KakaoPay, a South Korean financial services company, is accelerating its efforts to build future-proof financial infrastructure that combines stablecoins and artificial intelligence (AI).
The company's CEO, Shin Won-keun, laid out this vision at the EastPoint: Seoul 2026 conference on September 28. He highlighted the softwareization of money, tokenization of assets, and integration of on-chain financial networks as key shifts shaping future finance.
Shin sees stablecoin-based on-chain networks as an alternative to the complexity of existing financial systems. These networks can handle payments, settlement, and asset transfers in a single blockchain network, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
The CEO also emphasized the potential of AI agents to accelerate this shift in financial infrastructure. He noted that AI could eventually handle not only payments but also more complex financial services like lending and insurance, creating a 24-hour on-chain finance ecosystem.
