Kazakhstan Taps Flared Gas for Crypto Mining Power

Share

Kazakhstan is exploring an innovative solution to power its crypto mining industry. The country wants to utilize flared gas from about 60 oil fields to generate up to 1.3 TWh of electricity for crypto miners.

The plan involves oil firms supplying associated petroleum gas to colocated crypto miners, who would then convert the gas into electricity to power their operations.

This proposal aims to reduce pressure on the national grid and potentially boost crypto mining capacity in Kazakhstan.
