Korean Corporates Set to Embrace Digital Assets En Masse
Korea's corporate sector is expected to increasingly adopt digital assets as part of their business operations, according to speakers at EastPoint: Seoul 2026. Moses Lee, head of Asia-Pacific at Anchorage Digital, stated that 'most companies will use digital assets in the future' and that AI and digital assets will be used across corporate activity like the internet is today.
Yu Min-ho, chief strategy officer at iotrust, shared a similar view, suggesting that most companies will eventually handle virtual and digital assets. He noted two models for this: custody, where specialist institutions manage assets, and self-custody, where companies manage their own assets.
The speakers also emphasized the importance of related laws in expanding corporate use of digital assets. Cho Jin-seok, CEO of Korea Digital Asset (KODA), pointed out that domestic corporations are currently limited to simply holding digital assets, but a wider range of use cases could emerge with the establishment of the Framework Act on Digital Assets.
As more companies and institutions enter the market, the importance of custody services is set to increase. Lee called custody 'the most fundamental part of the digital-asset industry,' highlighting its significance in ensuring safe handling of digital assets within existing banking regulatory frameworks.
