Kyrgyzstan CB Partners with Certik to Secure Proposed Digital Currency
The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) has partnered with blockchain security firm Certik to enhance the cybersecurity and regulatory oversight of its proposed digital currency, Digital Som. Under a memorandum of understanding signed on September 9, 2026, NBKR and Certik will collaborate on security protocols for Digital Som and digital assets.
The partnership aims to integrate technical security measures during the infrastructure design stage rather than post-deployment, setting a potential model for central-bank operational frameworks. The agreement includes deploying Certik's supervision tools for 24/7 digital asset compliance monitoring.
Certik has previously provided regulatory advisory support to entities in the United States and contributed to public consultations held by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The Kyrgyz government has instructed the National Agency for Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies (NAVA) to roll out updated legislative amendments within three months to harden the national regulatory framework.
