LAPTOP Sinks 99% in First Day as Sniper Bots and Thin Liquidity Take Their Toll
Hunter Biden's cryptocurrency, LAPTOP, suffered a catastrophic first day of trading. The token launched on Base on Wednesday and initially reached prices above $300, but then plummeted by over 99% within an hour, according to DexScreener data.
The team behind LAPTOP blamed automated sniper bots and thin starting liquidity for the disaster. They claimed that the initial pool opened at $0.05 per token, making it a target for bots that hunt cheap tokens in new pools.
To incentivize liquidity, the project is deploying 4 million tokens to Aerodrome pools, which will start at midnight UTC on Sept. 10.
LAPTOP was pitched as the anti-TRUMP launch, and its team defended this framing by highlighting their use of a Hacken audit, a MiCA whitepaper filed with the Dutch AFM, and founder tokens locked for six months in Coinbase Custody.
