Litecoin Rallies on Leverage, Faces Reality Check at $75
Litecoin's price has reached an eight-month high as institutional and speculative demand increase. However, derivatives data suggests that leverage is driving most of the rally, rather than spot buying.
The futures open interest (OI) for Litecoin climbed to around $670 million in two days, just below its yearly peak of roughly $690 million set in January. This represents a more than doubling of OI since the June low.
Leverage nears 2026 peaks, which has been a bearish indicator in the past. In January, when OI peaked at around $690 million, Litecoin's price dropped to around $53 from above $80 over the following weeks.
