Litecoin Surges 24% on Network Activity and Technical Breakout
Litecoin's price surged 24% in one day due to a combination of factors. On-chain activity and trading volume spiked, triggering a technical breakout and short squeeze. Over $1 billion worth of Litecoin moved across the network in 24 hours, with daily active addresses ranging from 200,000 to 300,000.
The move coincided with a golden cross, where the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average near $51. This technical trigger attracted systematic and discretionary long interest. Litecoin's price broke through resistance levels at around $64-65, $68.75, and $71.88 before testing the $74-$75 zone.
Rising derivatives open interest, whale buying, and concentrated short liquidations also contributed to the surge. Grayscale's plan to convert its existing Litecoin Trust into an ETF listed on NYSE Arca added a longer-term bullish narrative. The approaching halving in 2027, which will cut block rewards from 6.25 to 3.125 LTC, is also seen as a catalyst for price growth.
