Litecoin Surges 8% on Record Network Activity and $1 Billion in Transfers
Litecoin (LTC) surged by nearly 8% in a 24-hour period, reaching intraday highs of around $69 and hitting eight-month price levels. This significant price movement coincided with a substantial increase in network activity, as over 17 million LTC, worth approximately $1 billion in adjusted economic volume, were transferred across the network in one day.
The sudden spike in trading volume was noteworthy, nearly tripling from levels recorded on September 18 to reach around $948 million. Additionally, futures open interest crossed the $500 million mark in the same timeframe, indicating that traders were not only buying and holding but also taking on leveraged positions based on their expectations of continued momentum.
LTC's price broke above a technical resistance cluster between $64 and $65, with its intraday range extending from $59 to $69. Daily active addresses on the network fluctuated between 200,000 and over 300,000 during recent periods.
