Litecoin Surges Amid Growing Network Activity
Litecoin has bucked the trend of broader market weakness in recent days, gaining nearly 8% to $66 over the past 24 hours. This puts LTC at its highest price since January and marks a 37% increase this month, the best performance since November 2024.
The Litecoin Foundation attributes this outperformance to increased economic activity on the network. Yesterday, over $1 billion in value was moved across the Litecoin network in 24 hours, with over 17 million Litecoins transferred. This is a significant percentage of LTC's market cap and suggests growing use cases for the token.
Another possible reason for LTC's outperformance could be tied to the reward halving cycle. The fourth halving, due next July, will cut per-block rewards to 3.125 LTC, and Litecoin has historically bottomed out ahead of a fresh bull run six to twelve months before this event.
