London Stock Exchange Announces 24/5 Trading Cycle
The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has outlined plans for a 24/5 trading cycle, known as LSEG24, which is set to launch in the first half of next year. This move will connect trading and tokenized settlement, allowing for real-time recording and settlement of eligible assets.
LSEG's digital securities depository will support the listing process, with plans to partner with Kraken on listings. The exchange has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HSBC on an interoperable link, which will enable seamless connections between traditional financial institutions and blockchain networks.
The launch of LSEG24 and the digital securities depository marks an important step towards the integration of traditional finance and blockchain technology. This move is part of a broader trend in the industry, as exchanges and brokers explore new ways to connect conventional shares with blockchain networks.
