Long-Term Holders Hoard 81% of Bitcoin as Retail Investors Rebound
A significant portion of Bitcoin's supply has remained inactive for at least six months, according to data from River Financial shared by Coin Bureau. Approximately 81% of all Bitcoin has not moved in this time period.
The data also shows that long-term holders have been accumulating more Bitcoin since 2020, adding over 3 million BTC to their holdings. In contrast, about 300,000 BTC left older wallets during the first half of 2026.
Retail investors took a net loss in the first half of 2026, selling around 140,000 BTC before reversing course and buying back over 107,000 BTC in Q3.
