Madison City Considers New Bitcoin Mining Project with Simple Mining
The city of Madison is considering another bitcoin mining project after a previous one was stalled. Simple Mining, a company based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, wants to host a 10-megawatt facility for digital currency mining and cloud-based computer storage.
The new project would require approval of two agreements: a land lease agreement and an electric service agreement. City Administrator Jameson Berreth stated that the project's economic benefits are its main goal, aiming to bring in new revenue and pass it on to customers without incurring any expenses for the city.
Berreth emphasized that the facility would have a closed-loop cooling system, reducing water usage and noise levels. He also mentioned that the facility is designed to be interruptible during emergencies, allowing power to be redirected elsewhere if needed.
