Market Resilience and Regulatory Clarity Boost XRP Hopes
Crypto commentator Austin Hilton believes recent developments could signal positive momentum for XRP holders and the broader cryptocurrency market.
Hilton pointed to the market's resilience after significant events, including the CLARITY Act setback, Federal Reserve rate increase, and Bank of Japan rate increase. Despite these potential pressures, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, XRP, and Solana avoided a major decline. The commentator noted that XRP traded 1% higher at the time, while the overall market gained approximately 2%, with XRP currently trading at $1.40 and up 8.35% in the last 24 hours.
Hilton also highlighted regulatory developments from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The CFTC has started establishing guidelines for self-custody wallets, indicating that people who keep wallets on their phones would not need to register them. Hilton connected these actions to the expected regulatory role of the SEC and CFTC if the CLARITY Act failed to become law.
However, Hilton cautioned that these regulatory measures have minimal legal backing and future political changes could affect crypto regulation. He noted that future Senate decisions could impact lawmakers supporting cryptocurrency-related policies, potentially leading to a different regulatory environment.
