MCSA Drops Opposition to CLARITY Act as Bill Nears Senate Floor Vote

Share

The CLARITY Act, aimed at clarifying federal law for developers and infrastructure providers of digital assets, has inched closer to a Senate floor vote after the Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA) dropped its opposition to Section 604.

The MCSA, which represents over 200 sheriffs across the US, initially opposed the provision, citing concerns that it could create gaps in oversight and make it harder to prosecute financial crimes involving cryptocurrency.

However, after continued discussions with the administration, the group shifted its stance to neutral, urging lawmakers to give state and local law enforcement a formal role in Treasury-led studies and advisory bodies created under the legislation.
