Mercari Adds Solana to Cryptocurrency List with Coincheck Partnership
Mercari, Japan's leading flea market app, has added Solana (SOL) to its list of tradable cryptocurrencies. The move was announced by Mercari Coin, a subsidiary that handles cryptocurrency and blockchain-related services. Users can now trade SOL using their Mercari Points, which are earned from selling unwanted items on the platform.
The integration is made possible through a partnership with Coincheck, a Japanese cryptocurrency exchange. According to the announcement, users need to have an active account with Mercari Coin and register for a Coincheck-linked account to access the new feature. This excludes minors, seniors over 75, and foreign residents.
With the addition of SOL, the total number of tradable cryptocurrencies on Mercari has increased to 16. Other notable additions include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), and Shiba Inu (SHIB). The platform will also be hosting a campaign from September 1-14, offering 200 yen in Mercari Points to new SOL buyers.
