MetaMask, a popular Ethereum wallet provider, is dealing with an ongoing security incident. On September 30, 2026, the company announced that it was working to address an issue affecting part of its infrastructure.

The update mentioned no immediate threat to wallets and stated that the firm would be exiting affected nodes within its non-custodial staking operations. Non-custodial staking means clients retain control of their stake and MetaMask does not manage withdrawal keys for clients.

On October 1, 2026, the company reported that its review so far showed no indication that wallets or customer funds were impacted by the incident. Containment and verification are still underway, and the firm promised to share more verified details when ready.
