MetaMask Unveils Agent Wallet for Autonomous AI Trading
MetaMask has launched Agent Wallet, a self-custodial product that enables AI agents to trade on decentralized finance platforms without direct access to private keys. This means owners can set spending limits and approve which protocols an agent may use, with any suspicious transactions requiring two-factor authentication.
The wallet uses security checks including transaction simulation, scam detection, and malicious-contract scanning to prevent unintended transactions or funds draining due to errors. In the default Guard Mode, owners can set a spending cap of up to $10,000, while a looser Beast Mode allows agents more independence but still requires two-factor authentication for flagged malicious transactions.
The Agent Wallet follows similar products from Coinbase and MoonPay, which introduced their own agentic wallets in February and March respectively. MetaMask's move is seen as a step towards machines that can transact and verify each other on crypto rails, where protocols suit autonomous actors.
