Metaplex Introduces MPL-3643 Token Standard for Regulated Securities

Metaplex, the protocol behind Solana's NFT ecosystem, has launched MPL-3643, a new token standard designed for permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities on Solana.

The standard provides issuers with on-chain compliance controls covering investor eligibility verification, jurisdictional limits, lockup periods, and transfer restrictions.

MPL-3643 is modeled after Ethereum's ERC-3643, which has become the go-to framework for compliant tokenized securities on that chain.

The standard leverages existing Solana infrastructure, including the Token-2022 program, the Solana Attestation Service, and sRFC 37, to handle compliance enforcement without significant per-transaction costs.
