Microsoft, Coinbase Take Down EvilTokens Phishing Network

Share

Microsoft and Coinbase have collaborated to dismantle a large-scale phishing network called EvilTokens. The network's goal was to offer a 'do-it-yourself phishing kit' that could use Telegram as a platform to steal Microsoft Outlook accounts. This kit included AI-powered tools to map trusted relationships, identify payment control, and flag potential fraud.

Microsoft's security team, backed by Coinbase, worked to take down the network and ultimately led to the arrest of two individuals allegedly involved in making articles for use in fraud and money laundering offenses.

In related news, Microsoft has announced plans to lay off 268 staff members connected with Xbox, including those at Halo Studios and other first-party studios. This move is part of a broader effort by Microsoft to pare back its console gaming operations due to soaring costs and concerns about pricing out gamers in the market.
