Middle East Conflict Drives Crypto Adoption to Record Levels
The conflict in the Middle East has led to a surge in crypto activity, according to a report by the Bitcoin Policy Institute. The region's annual blockchain transaction value reached $350 billion by 2025-2026, more than triple the $100 billion recorded in 2022.
The institute attributes the growth to economic pressures and government efforts to develop crypto markets, but notes that the conflict has accelerated demand for financial alternatives.
Investors moved from riskier cryptocurrencies into Bitcoin after the fighting broke out between Israel and Iran in June 2025. Its price stabilized despite continued fighting, and its share of the crypto market rose to a one-month high of 64.8%.
