Midnight Blockchain Brings Real-World Privacy Tools to Cardano Ecosystem
Cardano's Midnight Blockchain has made its presence known in the ecosystem by providing a new kind of privacy layer. Unlike most blockchains, which show all transactions and wallet balances openly, Midnight allows apps to hide sensitive information while still proving that the rules were followed.
This is achieved through zero-knowledge proofs, which enable one party to prove something is true without revealing the underlying data. Midnight uses its own programming language, Compact, to write smart contracts that are compiled into ZK circuits, verifying computations without exposing inputs.
The network runs a dual-state architecture, with public data on an unshielded ledger and private data in a separate shielded state. The two layers communicate through ZK proofs, allowing developers to choose what information is revealed and what remains hidden.
