Minnesota Law Bans Cryptocurrency Kiosks Amid Scam Concerns

A new law in Minnesota aimed at protecting citizens from cryptocurrency scams has taken effect. The law prohibits the use of machines that allow users to instantly convert cash into digital currency.

The law requires these machines, known as cryptocurrency kiosks, to be removed by the end of the year after August 1st is the deadline for them to go offline.

The Rochester Police Department investigated numerous reports of individuals being manipulated by scammers into depositing large sums of money into these kiosks. Once converted into crypto, the funds can be transferred to the scammer, making it difficult for investigators to track down the victim's money.
