Mirae Asset Aims for $109 Billion Digital Asset Business via Digital X
South Korea's Mirae Asset Financial Group plans to build a massive digital asset business centered on Digital X, aiming to reach 150 trillion won ($109 billion) in value. This ambition was outlined by Park Hyeon-joo, the group's founder and chairman, at an employee event in Seoul.
According to The Korea Times, Mirae Asset is also considering up to 300 billion won ($218 million) in additional capital for the business. The group may pursue a third-party allotment of 200-300 billion won in the first quarter of 2027, depending on earnings improvement.
The company aims to turn the digital asset business profitable by 2027, with Digital X focusing on four areas: crypto, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings. It plans to tokenize assets including gold, silver, and electricity, as well as develop financial products and services using digital assets.
Park emphasized that the initial goal is to make Digital X a core pillar of 'Mirae Asset 3.0' and grow the digital asset business to 150 trillion won by leveraging the group's 1,500 trillion won in client assets.
