Mirae Touts Ambitious $109B Digital X Expansion Plan

Share

Mirae Asset Financial Group has set its sights on expanding Digital X, formerly Korbit exchange, into a massive digital-asset business. Chairman and founder Park Hyeon-joo outlined the plan to employees on August 27, with a target of reaching $109 billion in value by focusing on four key areas: cryptocurrency, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings.

Park emphasized the importance of exploring tokenization of physical assets, including precious metals and electricity. This will be integrated into a broader onchain-finance ecosystem to connect digital products with traditional finance.

Mirae is leveraging its existing financial-services network to support Digital X. The company manages about $1 trillion in assets and sees this as an opportunity to combine research, traditional assets, and blockchain-based products.

The expansion plan reflects the growing trend of South Korean financial groups building regulated digital-asset infrastructure. However, execution will depend on the country's evolving rules for stablecoins, exchanges, and crypto-linked investment products.
