Missouri Men Indicted in Botched Bitcoin Kidnapping Plot
Three Missouri men have been indicted in connection with a plot to rob a Connecticut teenager of stolen Bitcoin.
The indictment, returned by a grand jury on May 22, charges Sedric Louis, 32, John Davis, 34, and Martel Williams, 27, with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, a Hobbs Act charge that carries up to 20 years in prison.
The men were recruited to help retrieve a portion of Bitcoin stolen the prior month. Between August 21 and August 24, 2024, they traveled from Missouri to Connecticut, where they picked up rental vehicles and supplies, including air rifles and walkie-talkies.
However, the plan never reached its intended goal as the men grew concerned that they'd been caught on the target's home security cameras and experienced a breakdown in communication with their coordinators. They left the state before making any move on the house.
