Monero Price Surges Amid EU Regulation Changes

Monero's price surged by 11.19% to $575.12 on Friday evening, making it one of the strongest assets in the top 25.

This jump puts Monero ahead of Bitcoin's gain of 6.39% to $81,271 in the same 24-hour window and its 16.9% increase over 30 days.

The real story here is not just the daily move but the premium that privacy coins like Monero are enjoying over Bitcoin.

Monero is not moving alone; other anonymity-enhancing coins such as Zcash (up 8.58%) and Dash (up 4.8%) are also rising, with some assets in this category seeing triple-digit gains within a few weeks.

The EU's anti-money-laundering regulation has significant implications for Monero holders in the European Union. By July 10, 2027, regulated intermediaries will be prohibited from keeping anonymous crypto accounts or holding anonymity-enhancing coins like Monero.

However, this regulation does not prohibit individuals from owning or using Monero; it only restricts certain entities from providing trading and custody services for the asset.
