Monero's Exchange Exclusion Leaves Holders Scrambling

Monero (XMR) has become increasingly difficult to find on large trading platforms. Since early 2024, several major exchanges have removed it from their offerings, some for all users and others for specific user groups.

This development has left holders wondering how to obtain Monero without an exchange account. Fortunately, three routes remain: a swap from another coin, direct trade with another person, and mining.

The process begins with setting up a Monero wallet, which can be done through the official project website, getmonero.org. The wallet comes in two versions: a graphical app (GUI) and a command-line tool (CLI), both of which are free and open source.
