Moonbeam and GLMR Crypto: Unlocking Interoperability in the Polkadot Ecosystem
Moonbeam is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract protocol that enables developers to build interoperable applications on the Polkadot chain. Its founder, Derek Yoo, is the CEO of PureStake, which provides a secure and reliable public blockchain infrastructure for app developers and projects. Moonbeam allows developers to move Decentralized Apps (DApps) between Polkadot and Ethereum without rewriting code or redeploying infrastructure.
The network's native token, GLMR, has several use cases, including facilitating transactions, providing security, and incentivizing collators through staking-based governance decisions. The token was first issued in a private community event called Take Flight, with a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 coins and a current circulating supply of 227,380,902 coins.
Moonbeam is closely tied to its affiliate network, Moonriver, which operates on the Kusama chain as a testing ground for new applications before they are released on Polkadot. The network's governance and community-led native token is MOVR, with most of it in the hands of holders and developers.
