The DeFi protocol Moonwell on the Base network has fallen victim to an exploit.
According to blockchain analytics firm PeckShield, the losses amount to approximately $8.7 million.
The attacker manipulated the value of the low-liquidity token MAMO and used it as collateral.
The stolen funds in DAI are currently sitting on one of the attacker's wallets.
