Morgan Stanley Enters Ethereum Market with New ETP; Gnosis Restructures Amid Industry Growth
Morgan Stanley Investment Management has expanded its lineup of cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs) with the launch of the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust, trading under the ticker MSSE on NYSE Arca. This marks the firm's first Ethereum-focused ETP, providing investors a regulated route to gain exposure to ether without needing to hold the asset directly.
The product tracks ether's price movement using the CoinDesk Ether Benchmark 4 PM NY Settlement Rate and has an expense ratio of 0.14%. Importantly, Morgan Stanley Investment Management will not retain any staking rewards generated by MSSE, signaling that the staking mechanism is structured to benefit the trust and its investors.
The launch of MSSE follows the earlier debut of the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust, which had already surpassed $381 million in assets under management as of mid-July 2026. With MSSE now added, Morgan Stanley Investment Management's crypto ETP lineup covers three of the largest digital assets by market capitalization: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
In a separate development, Gnosis has confirmed an internal team restructuring that affects multiple departments, including engineering, product, design, marketing, developer relations, and customer relations. The organization has not disclosed the exact number of employees affected or provided details on the reasons behind the decision.
