Morgan Stanley has launched a digital asset lab to test crypto products in a secure and compliant environment, according to Bloomberg. The lab is part of the bank's broader push into digital assets, which includes its recently launched Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).

The Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust ETF was introduced in April and now manages over $871 million in assets. This move marks another significant step by the traditional finance giant to explore and invest in the crypto space.

The digital asset lab will focus on testing products such as stablecoins, tokenized assets, decentralized finance (DeFi) apps, tokenized deposits, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). This initiative aims to provide a secure environment for Morgan Stanley to test and explore new areas of digital assets.

Morgan Stanley has been actively exploring the crypto space for years, with the bank's CEO and Chairman, Ted Pick, stating last year that they were working with regulators to see how they could offer crypto products safely.
