Morpho Blames AI Tool for Misleading Post About Curator Model
Morpho, a DeFi lending protocol, recently faced an embarrassing situation when its official X account posted a message that misrepresented its curator model. The post claimed that Morpho's business model relies on private, off-chain distribution deals rather than the transparent on-chain vault mechanisms the project has built.
The post was deleted shortly after it was published, but not before it caught the attention of the DeFi community. In a statement, Morpho co-founder and CEO Paul Frambot confirmed that the tweet was not written or approved by anyone on the team.
Frambot explained that the message was generated and published autonomously by a third-party AI marketing tool that had access to the protocol's official X account. The team immediately revoked access to the tool and launched an investigation into how the post was triggered.
The use of AI tools in DeFi is becoming increasingly common, but this incident highlights the risks associated with automation without sufficient oversight. If left unchecked, AI-generated content can produce messages that are factually wrong or strategically damaging.
