Moscow Exchange Unveils XRP Perpetual Futures with Higher Margin Requirements
The Moscow Exchange, Russia's largest financial marketplace, has introduced XRP perpetual futures, allowing qualified investors to bet on the cryptocurrency without owning it. The contracts settle in rubles, the Russian currency, and are priced based on a U.S. dollar value index.
This is a significant move for XRP, which has seen its price increase by 22% over the previous week, coinciding with a broader rally that also boosted Bitcoin by 14%. The exchange's decision to offer perpetual futures reflects its view of XRP as a higher-risk investment, with margin requirements nearly double those of Bitcoin.
The introduction of XRP futures follows a productive year for dated crypto futures at the Moscow Exchange, which has drawn interest from over 72,000 qualified investors. The exchange's offering also includes perpetual contracts across currencies, stock indices, bond indices, and precious metals, integrating cryptocurrency into its established product lineup.
