MSTR Institutional Buyers Undeterred by Strategy Woes
Despite facing strategy woes due to its decision to sell Bitcoin to fund dividends on STRC preferred shares, 12 out of 15 large institutional holders of MSTR added to their positions in Q2 2026.
The combined holdings among these top investors increased by roughly $700 million, as per the Q2 13F filings. This trend contrasts with Q1 2026, when a larger addition of $4.6 billion was recorded, although one more investor added to their stake in that quarter.
Capital International Investors remains the largest holder of MSTR shares, having added $346 million and lifting its stake to $3.49 billion or 9.4% of outstanding shares. Other notable additions came from Vanguard's two entities, which combined added a total of $147 million, BlackRock Institutional Trust, and Goldman Sachs, whose position nearly quadrupled to $555 million.
However, three institutional holders - Capital Research Global Investors, UBS Financial Services, and Geode Capital Management - reduced their stakes in Q2. Despite this, the net gain across all 15 holders reached approximately $700 million for the quarter.
