Nasdaq's Tokenized Equities Plan to Test Crypto Thesis in 2027

Share

Nasdaq's plan to launch tokenized equities in 2027 has put Kevin O'Leary's crypto thesis to the test. According to O'Leary, a major stock exchange adopting blockchain infrastructure is a 'watershed moment' for traditional finance.

O'Leary believes that once a major exchange adopts blockchain, it will create a reason for financial institutions to build around existing infrastructure, making one network the preferred standard.

Nasdaq has announced a partnership with Payward, Kraken's parent company, to develop Nasdaq Equity Tokens (NETs). The tokens are designed to connect with Payward's xStocks ecosystem and support distribution, trading, and post-trade processing.
