NEAR Intents Recovers $3.8M Exploit Before Deadline
A $3.8 million exploit of NEAR Intents has been resolved, with the entire amount returned to the company before an October 4 deadline.
According to Alex Shevchenko, general manager of NEAR Intents, the funds were sent back in full, and the team has stopped its investigation.
The exploit occurred on an unknown date, but NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin stated that the team identified the party responsible less than 24 hours after the exploit and established communication before recovering the funds.
SHIELD, an AI security layer used by Intents, along with 'aggressive detective work,' were key in identifying the exploiter, according to Polosukhin.
Shevchenko also urged security researchers to report vulnerabilities through bug-bounty programs rather than exploiting live services, as seen in the BNB Chain transaction data.
