NEAR Token Surges Nearly 90% in a Week as Cross-Chain Volume Hits Record Levels
NEAR Protocol's native token has surged nearly 90% in value over the past week, reaching a local peak of around $4.45 before easing to its current price of $4.6259. This impressive rally makes NEAR the largest weekly gainer among the top 20 digital assets by market capitalization.
The move coincided with strengthening conditions across the broader crypto market, where Bitcoin pushed past $86,000 for the first time since January and Ethereum advanced beyond $2,760. However, NEAR's outperformance points to project-specific catalysts that arrived at the same time.
Cross-Chain Volume Hits Record Levels
The clearest fundamental driver is NEAR Intents, the network's chain abstraction system that lets users swap assets across more than 30 connected blockchains without manually bridging between them. Cumulative transaction volume on Intents has reached $29.3 billion, including $842 million processed in the most recent seven-day window.
On September 18, the platform recorded a daily volume above $300 million, a single-day figure that compares with $406 million for all of July 2025.
