Nevada's Cryptocurrency Scam Epidemic: A Warning for All
Nevada has recently seen a surge in cryptocurrency-related scams, with over $205 million lost by residents in 2025, according to the FBI.
Brent Kovar was convicted of running a scheme that took $24 million from at least 400 investors, promising returns of 15-30% and claiming to have hundreds of millions in cryptocurrency reserves. However, it's clear that these promises were nothing more than empty words.
The scammers use various tactics to deceive their victims, often claiming they need to withdraw cash and feed it into a crypto kiosk or make payments through Bitcoin. But as the Nevada attorney general has warned, once the money is gone, recovery can be extremely difficult.
