NFT Bubble Pops: 32 Bold Predictions That Failed to Materialize
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) reached an all-time high in 2022, but their market value has plummeted since then. Protos looked back at 32 predictions about NFTs from various individuals to see how accurate they were.
Kevin O'Leary of Shark Tank claimed that NFTs would be a 'much bigger, more fluid market potentially than just bitcoin alone' due to their potential use in authentication and insurance policies. However, two years later, it's unclear if anyone has obtained an insurance policy in the form of an NFT.
Mark Cuban also made predictions about NFTs, stating that they would 'completely turn the...industry upside down.' He mentioned that the Mavericks were trying to find a way to turn their tickets into NFTs, but this didn't happen.
Many other individuals and companies made bold claims about NFTs, including predictions of a $80 billion market capitalization by 2025 and a $1 trillion metaverse opportunity. However, none of these predictions have come true.
