Nvidia-Linked Memecoins Create Ultra-Volatile Crypto Bets
Stock-paired memecoins are a new type of speculative token that have gained popularity on Robinhood Chain. Instead of trading against native crypto assets or stablecoins, these tokens trade against real-world stocks like NVDA.
The example given is Artificial Inu (AI), which is paired against Nvidia's tokenized stock (NVDA). Currently, AI has a market cap of $240 million, but this is equivalent to 1.06 million tokenized Nvidia shares, making each AI token worth approximately 0.001073 NVDA.
The trading mechanism involves an automated market maker (AMM) pool, which sets the price through a balance ratio. When traders want to buy or sell AI, they interact directly with this pool, adding or removing tokenized NVDA shares and AI tokens respectively.
Crucially, the AMM pool only tracks the relative ratio of AI and NVDA in its reserves, not their actual market value on Wall Street. However, the dollar value of AI is still tied to Nvidia's stock performance: if Nvidia surges or drops, AI's fiat price will rise or fall accordingly.
