Nvidia's $26B China Play: RTX PRO 5500 Bypasses Export Restrictions

Nvidia is planning to ship its new RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell workstation GPU into China, which could generate $6.5 billion in quarterly revenue and approximately $26 billion annually.

The company has found a potential loophole by classifying the RTX PRO 5500 as a professional workstation GPU rather than a data center chip, which would place it outside the scope of current US export control frameworks.

Nvidia is planning to ship around 500,000 units per quarter into China starting late December 2026, and major tech firms like ByteDance and Alibaba are reportedly considering significant orders, with ByteDance looking at a million units alone.
