NYSE Partners with Blockchain.com for Tokenized Stock Trading
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has made a significant move into the world of cryptocurrencies by signing a preliminary deal with Blockchain.com. The partnership will allow users of Blockchain.com to trade tokenized versions of U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Tokenized stocks are digital versions of shares recorded on a blockchain, a shared online ledger.
Blockchain.com has more than 44 million confirmed accounts, making it one of the largest crypto companies in the world. The deal gives Blockchain.com users access to the NYSE's digital alternative trading system (ATS), a regulated venue that is not a full stock exchange. Trading will only be possible after regulators approve it.
The partnership also involves data sharing between the two companies. ICE Data Services, part of NYSE owner Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), plans to sell Blockchain.com's crypto market data to its clients. In return, Blockchain.com will display live NYSE and ICE stock prices inside its app.
