OCC Pledges Final Stablecoin Rules by November Amid Market Cap Surge
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has announced that it will publish its final rulebook for payment stablecoins by November, as part of the GENIUS Act commitment. This regulatory timeline is expected to reduce uncertainty for crypto payments and stablecoin issuers.
Jonathan Gould, the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, made this announcement at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in Jackson Hole on August 19. The event took place on a day when the ETH gas price was 0.10 Gwei and the market cap had reached $2.49 trillion.
The GENIUS Act aims to provide clarity for stablecoin issuers, which could lead to increased adoption across DeFi, CEXs, DEXs, and institutional payment integration. The announced regulatory timeline is likely bullish for these areas of the crypto market.
