OKX and ICE Team Up for 24/7 Tokenized Stock Platform
OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, are collaborating to launch a 24/7 tokenized stock platform. Their joint venture, OKXICE LLC, has notified the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of plans to create a tokenized securities venue under the SEC’s innovation exemption. The platform would allow investors to trade tokenized versions of US-listed stocks continuously, using permissioned Uniswap v4 liquidity pools on XLayer and pairing each stock with stablecoins like USDC, USDG, or USDT.
The proposed platform includes 63 stock symbols, featuring major companies such as Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla, as well as crypto-related firms like Coinbase, Circle, and BitGo. This move aligns with a broader trend of integrating traditional finance with blockchain technology, following Robinhood’s earlier deployment of 500 tokenized stocks on Arbitrum.
In other news, US President Donald Trump announced the formation of a new federal initiative focused on artificial intelligence (AI). Trump appointed Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead the “Super Intelligence Force,” which will coordinate government efforts to advance AI. The group includes key figures like Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson and Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael.
Meanwhile, El Salvador has secured an additional $138 million from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of its $1.4 billion financing program. The IMF approved the disbursement despite El Salvador missing certain performance criteria, including one related to Bitcoin accumulation. The IMF granted waivers based on corrective measures and renewed commitments from the government but emphasized the need for stronger crypto-asset regulation and transparency.
