OKX Secures $25 Billion Investment to Expand Tokenization Efforts
Crypto exchange OKX has secured additional investment from Circle, Qube Research & Technologies (QRT), Ripple, and SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, maintaining a $25 billion pre-money valuation. This follows a funding round led by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in March. The exact amount raised was not disclosed.
Each investor already has existing ties with OKX. Circle issues the USDC stablecoin, QRT is a major trading counterparty, Standard Chartered holds client collateral in custody, and Ripple has recently listed its RLUSD stablecoin on the exchange.
OKX CEO Star Xu stated that the funding will support the company’s growth and efforts to tokenize real-world assets. The exchange has expanded beyond crypto, licensing ICE’s Brent and WTI oil benchmarks for perpetual futures in May. In July, OKX began offering over 40 tokenized US stocks and ETFs to clients outside the US and Europe. Additionally, OKX and ICE recently announced the launch of a tokenized securities venue (TSV) using an SEC exemption.
