OKX Secures New Investors at $25 Billion Valuation
OKX has completed a fresh funding round at a $25 billion valuation, attracting new investors including Circle, Ripple, SC Ventures, and Qube Research & Technologies (QRT). The round follows an earlier investment in March by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), which also valued the crypto exchange at $25 billion. While the size of the latest round was not disclosed, the new investors represent strategic partnerships across stablecoins, banking, and quantitative finance.
The inclusion of Circle and Ripple is particularly notable, as both companies operate in the stablecoin space, which is becoming increasingly important for OKX’s expansion into tokenized securities and cross-border financial products. SC Ventures, backed by Standard Chartered, adds a banking perspective, while QRT brings expertise in quantitative trading. However, the investments do not automatically imply future partnerships or commercial agreements.
ICE’s previous investment in OKX was followed by a collaboration on OKXICE, a platform designed to bring tokenized U.S. equities onto blockchain rails. This sets a precedent for how the latest investors might engage with OKX in the future. The next steps to watch include deeper stablecoin integration, banking connectivity, and market liquidity relationships involving QRT.
The unchanged valuation suggests that OKX has successfully broadened its institutional shareholder base without altering its valuation. The real test will be whether these new relationships evolve into operational collaborations, similar to ICE’s involvement in market infrastructure.
